My name is Jenny and I am a qualified person- centred counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I provide weekly therapy both short and long term to adults facing a range of emotional issues and life challenges.
I offer a confidential space where you can explore what matters most to you
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Perhaps you are navigating a challenging time, or struggling with difficult emotions which feel too heavy to carry alone. You might feel isolated, or like no one truly understands what you're going through. It takes courage to acknowledge when we need support, and talking things through with a compassionate listener can make a real difference.
Counselling offers a safe and confidential space where you can explore what's on your mind. It's a place where you can feel truly heard and understood, without judgment. Together we can gently unpack the things that are causing you pain or confusion.
How can counselling help?
A space to be heard: you'll find a confidential space to express your feelings and I'll listen closely. I'll be alongside you with whatever you are experiencing
Unburdening yourself: talking through your difficulties can bring a sense of relief and clarity. It can help you to understand your thoughts and feelings better, and to see them from a different perspective.
Making conscious choices: I can support you in making choices that reflect your inner compass, rather than external pressures and expectations.
Building resilience: together, we can develop strategies for coping with stress and building resilience.
Building self-esteem: counselling can be a journey towards greater self-acceptance and self-compassion.
Setting healthy boundaries: counselling can help you to prioritize your own needs without guilt. We'll explore how to create healthier boundaries in your relationships, leading to stronger self esteem.
Whatever you're facing, I'm here to support you. I believe in the power of counselling to help you find your way through difficult times and move forward in your life with greater self-awareness and confidence. Please reach out for a free initial consultation - I'd be happy to talk to you.
About Me
My path into counselling began long before I formally trained as a therapist. I have always been drawn to people's life stories - what shapes them, what they've been through, and what gives their lives meaning. It started when I worked with refugees through the UNCHR, supporting people facing immense upheaval and uncertainty. Their resilience and the power of being truly heard left a lasting impact on me.
This deep interest in people's experiences led me to complete a Master's in Life History and I set up a business recording life stories. I witnessed firsthand how being listened to - really listened to- could bring clarity, validation and a sense of self-acceptance.
Training as a counsellor felt like a natural next step. I went on to work in addiction services, suicide prevention, and community counselling, supporting people through some of life's most difficult challenges.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I work within their ethical framework. I am fully insured and enhanced DBS checked. As part of my commitment to the profession, I attend regular supervision meetings and continually build on my experience by undertaking regular Continuing Professional Development.
Please feel free to read my blog if you would like to get more of a sense of how I work.
Seeking therapy can feel vulnerable, but it's an act of self-care and courage. I offer a confidential and supportive space where you can explore what matters most to you.
If you are interested in exploring working with me, I encourage you to get in touch. We can have a 20 minute phone conversation which is free of charge.
Alternatively, you may wish to book in for an initial assessment session where we can meet in person or online at the reduced rate of £30. This session would not commit you to booking in any further sessions. It is an opportunity for us to meet and talk through what you're looking for and whether we could work together.
Additional Training in:
My approach to therapy is grounded in person-centred theory and it's less about me being an expert and more about us exploring your world together. I believe in respecting your unique perspective and understanding your experiences as you see them. I hold an optimistic view of human nature, believing we are always growing and moving towards our full potential, when life's circumstances allow. I also draw on compassion focused therapy to enable clients to learn ways of being kinder to themselves. Working with me can help you turn from feeling that you are to blame when things go wrong, to feeling that you are trying hard to deal with a challenging or difficult situation. This can enable you to feel motivated to make changes from a place of kindness towards yourself, rather than a place of harsh criticism.
I believe that building a trusting relationship is key to enabling you to get the most out of your therapy.
It means you can feel able to share your must vulnerable feelings and experiences safely. I also have a particular focus on working with clients struggling in their own relationships. Perhaps you are healing from a a difficult relationship? Or you may just feel depleted and unfulfilled? I work with people wanting to create healthier relationships. The relationship we build between us can also offer useful clues to the other relationships in your life. My person-centred approach focuses on enabling you to discover what's right for you, separate from external expectations.
I offer both short term or longer term therapy, depending on your needs and what you are looking for.
Short term therapy can be for anything up to about 6 weeks. It can be helpful for getting through a difficult time, finding coping strategies or resolving a specific issue or problem.
Longer term therapy can be helpful if you are wanting to explore deeper issues and can last as long as you need or find helpful.
Please feel free to drop me a line or get in touch if you have any questions or need any more information about how I work.
